On Eagle's Wings

Our guild quilt show is at the end of March and I have been swamped with quilts needing custom, showy quilting so it is much longer between posts as I strive to meet everyone's deadline. I did manage to get my show challenge done by putting the binding on while taking a short break last night. The challenge was to come up with a quilt with the theme America the Beautiful. The sad part about growing up during the Vietnam war was that we lost the feeling of patriotism, so it was hard to come up with an idea. I finally saw a pattern that I felt good about although about twice the size limit, so I had to be a bit creative by eliminating 2 eagles and changing the bottom of the quilt. To top it off, the pattern was wrong and had I not made only one block first, instead of cutting it all out, I'd have wasted the whole pile of fabric. Then I got really stuck on the quilting, ripping it out twice. It just didn't work. A friend I met online suggested SID and stars and finally I had my design. So here is my entry - On Eagle's Wings- Isaiah 40:31 Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. The will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

  1. Viki, the eagle looks great. The straight line quilting really makes the eagle stand out. I see what you mean about the wool batting poofing things up, but that only adds to the quilt. Thanks for sharing

  2. It is beautiful work as usual for you. Wish I could be there for the show. Our guild show here is the same weekend. Have three quilts in it and you quilted all three. Thanks for all the beautiful work you do.

  3. WOW!!!!! You always do such fabulous work!! There is an award in blogland for those who have less than 200 followers, that I wish to pass on to you, called the Leibster award. It's a small way of saying that I want to be you, when my long arm skills grow up.

    1. Thank you, that is so sweet. Kay, from Borderline Quilter in Scotland also gave me this award but as I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to adding new things to blogland, I never got it posted.
