What on earth is this?

Ohmygosh! Look at this! My neighbor gave me a little start off a plant last year because I liked the leaves. She said it didn't really do anything flashy. Tonight I went outside and saw something strange in my garden. Wow! This bloom is 8 inches tall and there are two of them. Anyone know what the plant is?

  1. I think it's a jack-in-the-pulpit.

  3. It's way to big for a JIP. We have tons of those in the woods. Their top folds down over the Pistil and the flower is about 2 inches. This flower is over 8 inches. The arrowhead shaped leaves are as big as a hand and have white veining. AND it is a sun loving plant. Both the JIP and Peace lily are shady plants. I also have a peace lily and this plant has totally differently shaped leaves and it is perennial. It has lived through 2 winters, dying back and then coming up again in the spring. It definitely looks related to the peace lily and the JIP, but its sun loving nature is a mystery, as well as the odd shaped leaves.
