Talk about a Mystery Quilt!
While looking for a box to mail a quilt back to a customer, I found a box on top of a shelf and was a bit surprised when I opened it and found a partially finished quilt I had started several years ago. I figured I'd just toss it, but found that all the large border was done, 2 of the 4 rows of blocks were done and many of the other blocks pinned and ready to sew. There was a bag of squares cut and ready to make 1/2 square triangles. I now have all the blocks that were pinned sewn together and was having trouble understanding why I had stopped in the first place and put the quilt away. Then I discovered I do not have enough white but I think I can find something close enough. I am about half a dozen blue triangles short, too. Perhaps that was the reason or perhaps I just got overwhelmed with trying to put this puzzle together. I took a couple of hours to figure out where the pieces go and what pieces were missing. All the pieces were in a wad, all wrinkled up and it took quite a bit of ironing. The quilt will be 108 inches long! Perhaps I just had got tired of piecing such a large quilt. Who knows? I do really love this thing, though and am anxious to finish it up. The bottom picture is what I have done and shows what pieces I have missing.

That was a lovely surprise for you! It is going to be gorgeous when it is done, because it looks that way already.ReplyDelete
great surprise, and it's going to be a beauty when you get it done!ReplyDelete
It is very pretty. Do you have an approximate date?ReplyDelete
Glad I could be of service in this project. LOLReplyDelete
I assume I was the customer. Love this quilt and can't wait to see it finished. Received my quilts on Friday and been busy doing binding. They are wonderful.
Interesting surprise! sometimes what was overwhelming a couple years ago seems doable now--or a way around it occurs that we weren't experienced enough to think of then. Thanks for showing us.ReplyDelete
Oh but it will be beautiful when you are done.ReplyDelete
When I find a box with an unfinished quilt, it never seems to look as nice as yours does. That will be a beauty when it's done.ReplyDelete
